Honoring Dolly Parton

Like many, we are deeply saddened by the passing of Dolly Parton.

Thirty-one years ago, in 1995, Dolly founded the Imagination Library with a simple yet profound belief: that every child deserves the magic and opportunity that comes with holding a book of their own.

Child Care Action Council is deeply honored to serve as an Imagination Library partner for children and families across Mason and Thurston counties. Since March 2023, 228,992 books have arrived in local mailboxes—each standard-sized package representing a spark of curiosity, a moment of family connection, and a lasting piece of the extraordinary legacy Dolly built.

Today, we honor Dolly with immense gratitude for her lifelong devotion to children and literacy. We are humbled to carry her vision forward across our communities, one child, one family, and one book at a time.
