Salad Spinner Art

Who knew a salad spinner could be so much fun and kids could learn so much? One beloved art project at the Kaleidoscope Play and Learn group is to make swirly water colors paintings. The first part of the project used fine motor skills for dropping liquid colors onto paper from an eye dropper. Then once the child determined they had enough colors, the lid was placed on top and the kids used their large motor skills to twirl the spinner around. The kids faces will beam with happiness as they see their swirly creations. Plus, they learn what happens when colors mix together.

What you need:

  • Salad spinner
  • Eye drop
  • White watercolor paper
  • Small bowls for each color
  • Water colors
  • Towel or apron to cover kids clothing
